It was March, 3, 1847. This was the day that Alexander Graham Bell, who was a major pioneer, was born. He was raised with two parents. His parents were Eliza and Melville Bell. Alec was named for his grandfather and after his dad. He was born in a small town in Scotland called Edinburgh. Eliza was a famous painter and pianist. His father was a speech teacher who taught deaf children how to speak properly. It was very hard to communicate with Alec's mom because she was deaf. She was taught by Alec’s father. Alec had two siblings. He had one older brother and one younger brother, so that means he was the middle child. His older brother was named Edward and his younger brother was named Melville. Alec had a terrier named Trouve. Alec was home schooled with his two brothers. His mom taught him everything. He and his mom were very close. Alec went to high school at Edinburgh Royal High School. He graduated high school at age 14. Alec became interested in the telegraph when he graduated Royal High. Alec was inspired by the telegraph. The telegraph was Signals, music, and even voicelike sounds that are transmitted electrically by wire. But human speech had never been sent by wire. He was Alec was also interested in teaching the deaf. Alec went to college at the University of Edinburgh. After college he started working on another, but better telegraph. That better telegraph would be called a telephone. Alec studied teaching the deaf at University of Edinburgh. He got a part-time job at Weston House Boys School. After that he decided to become a teacher in the music speech area. Alec married Mabel Hubbard, but had no children. They married in July, 11, 1877. They met when Alec teach the speech. She was one of his students. Later in life, he moved to Nova Scotia. Alec died when he suffered from diabetes. He died on August, 3, 1922. He was 75 years old.. He died in his Nova Scotia home.
